A Flaw in the Title is a painting by the English artist Edmund Blair Leighton
English painter of historical genre scenes, religious scenes and portraits (1853–1922)., created in 1878, the first of his paintings to be exhibited at the Royal Academy.[1]
The painting depicts a late 18th-century meeting in a lawyer’s office. A well-dressed client leans over the table, while opposite him a lawyer is studying an important deed. The lawyer’s colleague looks on, quill in mouth, and behind a screen another lawyer works at a window seat. There is an open chest behind the lawyer, the papers it contained strewn about the floor and in a nearby waste paper bin.[1]
