Stretford Grammar School

Stretford Grammar School is a selective, co-educational foundation schoolType of school in England and Wales managed by its own governing body, funded by the Local Education Authority. in Trafford, Greater Manchester, formed in 1986 from the merger of Stretford Grammar School for Girls and Stretford Grammar School for Boys.[1] The school caters for students between the ages of 11 and 18; as at its 2024 Ofsted report it had 947 pupils, of whom 145 were in the sixth form.[2] It became a specialist science college in 2005, and a foundation school in 2012.[1]

In 2009 the school failed an Ofsted inspection critical of its management and a lack of high grades in maths and science, becoming the first grammar school in England to be placed in special measures.[3] The school exited special measures the following year,[4] and as at its latest Ofsted report was graded as “good”, verging on “outstanding”.[2]
