Sir Ralph Denham Rayment Moor, High Commissioner of the British Southern Nigeria Protectorate, is among the house’s former distinguished residents. A few years after his retirement on the grounds of ill health he was found dead at The Homestead on 14 September 1909, having poisoned himself.[2]
