East Runton Cliffs is a 19.7-hectare (48.7 acres) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest site to the northwest of Cromer, in Norfolk, and is part of the Greater Wash Special Protection Area.[1]

Lower Pleistocene[a]The Pleistocene era lasted from about 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago, and included the time of the last Ice Age.[2] sediments are exposed on the foreshore, including large blocks of glaciotectonic (transported by ice) chalk. The sediments contain the fossils of an extensive vertebrate fauna, including fish, extinct horses, rhinoceroses, and elephants.[1]
