The Borough of Halton in North West England is one of the four unitary authoritiesLocal government administrative unit in England and Wales. comprising the ceremonial countyArea with an appointed Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff to represent the monarch's interest. of Cheshire, and a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.[1]

The borough consists of the towns of Runcorn and Widnes and the civil parishesSmallest administrative unit in England. of Daresbury, Hale, Halebank, Moore, Preston Brook, and Sandymoor.[2]

Halton contains 2 of the 142 Grade I listed buildings in Cheshire. Grade I structures are those considered to be “buildings of exceptional interest”.[3]
