Saltford Manor House

The Grade II* listed 12th-century Saltford Manor House in Saltford, Somerset is thought to be the oldest continuously occupied private residence in England.[1][2][3]

The house was built in about 1160 by Earl William of Gloucester, with major remodeling in the 17th century and some mid-20th century alterations and additions.[1]

The architectural historian Anthony Emery believes that the three-storey house originally consisted of a large single room on each floor, with a vaulted chamber on the ground floor.[4]
